The main ones include skimmers and nozzles: skimmers draw surface water, while nozzles return it after filtration. A pool skimmer is made from impact-resistant ABS plastic that withstands constant exposure to water, pool chemicals, and UV rays. This ensures long service life and stable operation of the cleaning system.
A skimmer is responsible for cleaning the surface layer of water in the pool, removing leaves, dust, and other floating debris. It is a plastic or metal container connected to a pipeline that directs the water to the filtration system. A floating flap in the side opening regulates the water flow. The skimmer works as follows:
- contaminated water enters through the skimmer opening;
- the flap restricts backflow and improves cleaning efficiency;
- debris is trapped in the basket or filter element;
- the filtered water is heated and returned to the pool.
Pool Skimmer
The pool skimmer is installed at the waterline level and is designed to collect floating debris from the surface. During operation, it pulls in the upper layer of water along with leaves and dirt. Larger particles are caught in a special basket inside the skimmer, after which the water is directed through pipes to the filtration system for further purification. For larger pools, it’s recommended to install multiple skimmers — generally, one unit per 15–25 m² of water surface.
